BOIGRAPHY:

I originally started playing classical guitar at the age of 7 and had my first experiences of playing in a group when I joined the Chelmsford Guitar Orchestra, conducted by Roger Montgomery, when I was 9 years old.  It was during this time that I decided I wanted to play rock (Bryan Adams was the flavour at that time?!) and consequently gave up playing classically.

I started my first band at 14 years old with four other fellow schoolmates by the name of ‘Feedback’.  I was originally just the  rhythm guitarist but with our original lead vocalist quitting, I was nominated to take up the role…and I’ve continued to sing ever since!   Our repertoire included Oasis and Nirvana covers together with some of my first compositions.  We recorded our first demo CD, ‘1,2, Barry…’, consisting of my own compositions in 1998 at Amber Studios.  The following year we changed our name to ‘Oblivion’ and recorded our second demo CD ‘Maybe it’s time’.  During these years we would gig frequently typically at the Y-Club and Army & Navy (both in Chelmsford) and the Square bar (Harlow).

It was later in the Summer of ‘99 when through sacking our original drummer, Russell Barnes, we took on a new hyperactive (and nymphomaniac) drummer by the name of CJ…and I’m still stuck with him!  With CJ on board we continued gigging with our highlight perhaps being asked to play at ‘BBC Music Live 2000’ in Milton Keynes.   We recorded a further demo ‘Charades’ in 2000 before I went to university and decided to leave the band.

I continued to stay in contact with CJ and after graduating (and having not performed for 3 years - except for the odd drunken karaoke session!) we decided that we wished to start a new band.  It was through James the bass player’s Dad and my Dad working together that we were put in touch and, with a few band member acquisitions, we have continued to play and record together since.

In the last year or so I have been working with a producer assisting in recording vocals for various Pink Floyd covers, most notably in a Bluegrass style…yee hah!!

Further, I have continued to song write and I have several original songs that I hope to record with our producer, Fat Kat, for ultimately, playing with the band…watch this space
